My two all time #favorite food combos are bananas with peanut butter and chips with salsa. If all food were wiped off the face of the earth and I had to choose select foods, those would be it! Needless to say I haven’t had my authentic #chipsandsalsa fix in quite sometime and to be honest, I truly dislike jarred #salsa like pace picante. So why not make my own starting off by broiling tomatillos, tomatoes, garlic, yellow onion and jalapeño until charred.

Instantaneously, the house was filled with that state fair smell.... you know that smell of roasted corn, a glorious smell! Broiling the #veggies only took about 10 mins until I could see some char forming on the outside. I combined all the #ingredients into a food processor with a teaspoon of cumin and juice from one whole lime and pulsed on high. Once all the ingredients were incorporated, I added a handful of fresh #cilantro and pulsed a few more times. I personally like my salsa a little sweet, so I added a few pinches of sugar. Plus, the sugar helped break down the acidity from all the tomatoes.

Salsa, the #Spanish word for sauce, can be as simple or as complex as you want. Typically, salsa is a combination of chiles, tomatoes and other added spices. Despite what some may think, Texans were not the first to introduce salsa. The common condiment has been traced back to the Aztecs, Mayans and Incas. Your everyday eats has a history of its own! #homemade salsa is always a hit in our home!
